Several devices were found in eastern Oklahoma Tuesday, which could have created a dangerous situation.
It happened in rural Cherokee County, near Tahlequah. Authorities say someone tried to blow up several mailboxes in the communities of Boudinot and Welling.
The mailboxes were in the Boudinot and Welling communities, east of Tahlequah. Officials say gasoline filled bottles equipped with firecracker fuses were found in four mailboxes - and another bottle was found at a convenience store. Danny Oliver, Sheriff's Office investigator: “when you mix of course petroleum products, uh an explosive of an explosive nature, you know gasoline is an explosive in itself, and uh you set up in a device, it could trigger an explosion, it could blow up in your face and cause quite a bit of damage if not blind you or hurt you pretty bad.â€
None of the bottles caught fire - and no one was injured. Several people have been questioned in connection with the case, but no one has been arrested.
