Could you use a little extra cash for the holidays? Thatâ€™s what some shops in Broken Arrow and Claremore are offering to get people to buy local.

Ace Hardware on Main Street in Broken Arrow is one of 55 stores participating in the annual "Buy Broken Arrow" campaign. All stores are members of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce.

This is the 9th year the Chamber has given away $10,000. On average, Broken Arrow loses nearly 7% of Christmas profits when residents shop outside the city. Rene Ray: Ace Hardware Owner â€œItâ€™s easier and more convenient for people to shop where they work and where they are large groups of merchants together like at the mall. But we have everything these people need in Broken arrow, too.â€

Buy Broken Arrow" kicks off this Friday and continues through December 19th.

This is the first year for Claremore's "Santa's Cash" program. It will give away $4,000.
