There's something new on the Riverside Drive landscape, a traffic light at 41st and Riverside.

News on Six reporter Rick Wells says the new traffic signal is making an impact on traffic. The city turned it on at Friday afternoon and most people responded pretty well.

What Tulsa Police hope is this new light will control speeds on what most of us call Riverside Raceway. Tulsa Police Cpl Chris Bauer, "It's gonna slow down traffic, hopefully people will anticipate knowing there's a light here and start to slow down. It's also gonna give people turning onto Riverside from 41st, to turn southbound this way they'll have a safe way to cross. It should cut down on accidents."

Here's something that makes this project very unique. The City of Tulsa's public works department did this entire project in house and finished a month early.

Everyone is sure there will be some complaints about this new light, slowing the drive to work or home, but anyone who's ever tried to turn from 41st onto Riverside southbound is glad it's here.
