(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An unusually cold autumn and worries about reduced production are driving up the natural gas price index.
The price index for western Oklahoma gas rose nearly one-dollar to four-dollars, 15 cents per thousand cubic feet in November. The index for eastern Oklahoma is four-dollars, 25 cents, an increase of 75 cents per thousand cubic feet.
The indexes are derived from national surveys of hundreds of natural gas buyers and sellers.
Analyst Tony Say of Oklahoma City says there is a concern about the possibility of a severe winter, which would increase the demand and the prices for natural gas.
