(Undated-AP) -- Two Oklahoma colleges now have permission from their regents to furlough employees as a cost-cutting measure.
Several of the state's 25 colleges and universities have discussed furloughs as a way to deal with budget shortfalls.
Connors State College in Warner and Langston University are the first to be allowed to carry them out.
Connors President Donnie Nero says employees who earn more than 40-thousand dollars a year will take off three days without pay by the end of the school year. Nero says employees paid less than 40-thousand dollars can't afford the unpaid days off.
Langston University says it is considering furloughing all employees for seven days during the school year.
