(Tulsa-AP) -- An effort to unionize about 630 field workers at Oklahoma Natural Gas has failed.

The utility said Wednesday that workers voting by mail rejected the effort by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, 414-to-120.

ONG spokesman Don Sherry says results of the two-week vote were tallied Tuesday.

The utility employs about 1,300 workers in Oklahoma, where it provides power for about 800,000 customers.

Workers at the company's sister utility, Kansas Gas Service, have unionized. Both are controlled by Tulsa-based Oneok.
