(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Department of Corrections furloughs that were to start November first will be delayed at least a month.
Senate President Pro-Tem-Elect Cal Hobson says he and corrections director Ron Ward have agreed the furloughs could be postponed.
More than 48-hundred D-O-C workers were slated to be furloughed 23 days.
The department is looking to cut costs after a state revenue shortfall forced agencies to reduce budgets.
Hobson says the agreement provides another month to look at tax collections. It also could spare prison employees from losing wages before Christmas.
