A Sallisaw jury is expected to decide Friday whether 41-year old Kenneth Barrett[pictured] is guilty of capital murder in the shooting death of an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.
Closing arguments began Thursday afternoon in Sallisaw with prosecutors claiming that Barrett shot 49-year-old David Rocky Eales to avoid being arrested in a drug raid in September of 1999.
Defense attorneys say Barrett was protecting himself after being wounded by troopers who were attempting to arrest him on a drug warrant. Closing arguments are set to continue Friday morning in Sallisaw.
Barrett could face the death penalty if convicted.
