TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A Tulsa post office will be named in honor of a postal worker who was killed while delivering mail last year.
The U.S. House approved a resolution on Tuesday by Rep. John Sullivan to name the facility after Robert Wayne Jenkins.
``Robert Wayne Jenkins was a wonderful father and husband, dedicated postal employee and terrific American,'' Sullivan, R-Okla., said. ``His commitment to his family, friends and job served as an example for all who knew him.''
Jenkins, a veteran letter carrier for the Postal Service, was delivering mail on his route Dec. 21 when a man came out of an apartment and shot him.
Jason Weed was found innocent by reason of insanity in August for killing Jenkins, 30.
Sullivan said Jenkins was known and respected by his colleagues for his dedication and professionalism.
Other members of Oklahoma's congressional delegation co-sponsored the resolution passed by the House.
The post office to be named the Robert Wayne Jenkins Station is the same facility he worked out of during his nine-year career.
