(Sallisaw-AP) -- A stress management specialist testified that a traumatic event would affect the memory of people who saw the fatal shooting of an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

James Horn took the stand today as an expert witness for prosecutors at the trial of Kenneth Eugene Barrett[PICTURED].

Barrett is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Trooper David ``Rocky'' Eales during a shootout during a September 1999 drug raid in Sequoyah County.

Horn's testimony counters arguments made by Barrett's attorney that troopers' trial testimony conflicts with statements they wrote after the shooting.

Eales was killed as an O-H-P caravan was serving a ``no-knock'' warrant to search for methamphetamine at Barrett's cabin.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
