Prices are up at the fair this year, from tickets to food.
That hasn't stopped more than a million people from turning out but as News on Six Reporter Patrina Adger found out it has kept some famiites from coming back more than once.
Jammie and Bobby Stowers drove 80 miles from McAlester to the State Fair. It's a trip their three boys look forward to and a trip their parents save up for every year.
"We put it aside cause we know that's what we're gonna do. We come up to spend a day."
So, we wanted to know just how much it would cost this family of five to have fun at the fair.
The first expense, two bucks for each adult for the shuttle to get to the grounds. Next, $7 per adult for adult admission, $4 for their oldest son.
So far, that's a total of $22 and they haven't even eaten yet.
Twenty dollars for four corn dogs, nachos and two bottled waters.
So far, the Stowers have spent 44 bucks. Then there are the rides.
Ride coupons are 50 cents each, and all rides take more than one. To ride the Orient Express will cost 3 coupons per person- that's 9 coupons for the Stowers kids - that means $4.50 for just one ride.
Total cost for the family, "If we go on the rides probably $100. If we don't go on the rides probably $75." But they say it's money well spent.
The cost to get into the fair is $5 - that's up two dollars from last year.
