(Oklahoma City-AP) -- In a move not seen since the Korean War, a group of AWACS reservists stationed at Tinker Air Force Base has been called to active duty for two straight years.
Lieutenant Colonel Roberta Smith says the move is out of the ordinary. But Smith says nobody is complaining about having to stay away from their civilian lives for longer than expected.
The 231 reservists are part of the 513th Air Control Group that flies Advanced Warning and Control Systems E-3 jets.
AWACS are among the first units to deploy in time of war. The 513th is the only AWACS reserve unit.
