(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An eighth-grade earth science teacher from Broken Arrow is the ``Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.''
James Kerr was announced as the 2003 teacher of the year today by State Superintendent Sandy Garrett in a ceremony at the Oklahoma State Fair. He'll represent the state in the national Teacher of the Year competition.
Kerr has worked in the Union school district for the past nine years and has taught for eleven years.
The award includes more than ten-thousand dollars in cash and gifts, a leather sofa, a one-year supply of gasoline from Conoco-Phillips and one year's use of a new Dodge.
