The kickoff to the Tulsa State Fair is just a few days away. Workers spent the weekend putting the finishing touches on the midway to give it a new look.
Crews have built new barns and put lights across the top of the Expo Center this year. Sunday they hung a welcome sign and finished landscaping the midway to make it more like a park, and less like a parking lot.
Landscaper Wayne Driggers, "What we're trying to do is make it a more pleasant atmosphere for people that come out. A place for people to sit. A little more garden area to make it more like a park setting."
The gates open Thursday at 4 PM. The fair runs through October 6th. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6 to 12. Kids under 6 get in free.
Make sure you stop by the Channel 6 booth and say hello.
