The search is on for a cougar that attacked a Kay County woman. Wednesday night, Karina Jackson was checking on a dog that had gotten out near her home east of Newkirk.

That's when a cougar lunged from the brush and jumped on top of her. The 150-pound cougar then ran off into the darkness. Jackson now has 29 stitches from the claw marks on her arm. "All of a sudden, something hit me and knocked me down. I didn't know I was cut until I got back in the light."

Wildlife officials hope to catch the cougar, possibly to relocate the animal.
