(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The football stadium at the University of Oklahoma is getting a new name.
The OU regents voted unanimously Wednesday to name the stadium after the Gaylord family of Oklahoma City.
OU President David Boren says the new name will honor millions of dollars in gifts given to the family by the Gaylords.
The gifts include 12 million dollars to OU athletics that will be used to complete the stadium's 75 million dollar restoration and expansion.
Boren says its the largest individual gift for athletics in OU history.
The new name will be the Gaylord Family/Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The recognition will include the establishment of a memorial outside the stadium listing the names of OU students, faculty and staff who gave their lives serving in the US armed forces.
