(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The number of Oklahomans receiving food stamps has gone up 25% in the last year.

State Human Services Department numbers show 329,000 Oklahomans were collecting food stamps in June.

Department spokesman George Johnson says most of the people receiving food stamps are working. Johnson says they aren't getting enough hours or enough wages.

Johnson says typically the state of the economy indicates how many food stamps are given out.

Number for July and August are expected to continue on an upward trend.
