The Tulsa chapter of the NAACP is speaking out on the lawsuit. It's not happy that Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune rejected a settlement.
So the local branch has requested legal help from the national NAACP. It's also calling for a grand jury investigation into the entire situation surrounding the lawsuit. Local NAACP president Pleas Thompson, “It was a signed, sealed and delivered agreement and he refused to sign the decree. And we want to know why. And I think we have a right to know why he did what he did."
Mayor LaFortune says he rejected the consent decree on grounds that it was not something everyone involved could get behind.
