COYLE, Okla. (AP) _ A woman is dead and one man has been arrested after an 8-hour standoff at a Coyle house, authorities said.
The victim has not been identified, said Kym Koch of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The state medical examiner was determining a cause of death Sunday, Koch said.
A spokesman for Logan County Sheriff Randy Richardson said a 47-year-old man who may have lived at the house is being held at the Guthrie city jail. No complaints or charges had been filed Sunday afternoon.
Deputies said the standoff ended about 2 a.m. after officers fired tear gas into the home. Officers then had to wait several hours before they could enter the house because of fumes. The woman's body was found inside.
The standoff started after 6 p.m. Saturday when deputies went to check the welfare of a woman who lived at the house. A man came to the door and held an object that could have been a weapon to his own throat. Deputies said he also threatened to shoot officers.
