(Tallahassee, Florida -AP) -- Former Oklahoma Health Commissioner Jerry Regier has been appointed to oversee Florida's troubled child welfare agency.
Governor Jeb Bush made the announcement Thursday saying Regier's experience in Oklahoma would help him tackle the agency's problems.
Regier has been credited with cleaning up the Oklahoma Health Department after a nursing home bribery scandal.
The Republican began a run for governor earlier this year but dropped out because he didn't meet all the requirements.
A spokesman for Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating says Keating recommended Regier for the job.
