WASHINGTON (AP) _ Motorola Inc. is recalling about 1 million digital cable boxes installed earlier this year because pins connecting the boxes and their power cords can break, causing electric shocks.

The Horsham, Pa.-based company has not received any reports of injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The recalled model DCT2000 cable boxes are black with ``Motorola'' and ``Interactive Digital Communications'' on the front. The model number is on the cover of the user guide.

The government said consumers can continue to use the units but should not remove the power cord from the box before unplugging it from the outlet.

Digital cable operators distributed these set-top boxes with digital cable services from March 2002 through June 2002.

For more information, consumers can call their local cable provider or Motorola at 1-866-281-1588.
