A motel clerk is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot during a robbery over the lunch hour Wednesday.

Police say the robber went into the lobby of the Village Inn motel near Skelly and Riverside Drive and forced the clerk into the office. They say the robber took money from the safe, but, the clerk fought back and during the scuffle, the robber shot the clerk in the left arm.

The wound was superficial and the suspect got away.
