Plans are nearly complete for a major widening project stretching along Highway 75.
Plans call for up to 8 lanes in some sections stretching south from I-44 to Glenpool. At a public hearing Tuesday night people who live near Highway 75 were able to learn about the project.
Public comments are being taken for another 30 days, with final approval in October. Some landowners we talked with don't like the plans. Property owner Charles Bass, "If they want to come in and buy it that's fine, but they have no money to do that. It may be five, ten or 15 years before they get any money." Craig Day, "That leaves you in limbo?" Bass, "that leaves me totally in limbo.â€
If all goes according to plan, the first phase of the project will be an $18-million interchange at 71st street, beginning in 2004.
