A Tulsa County Commission candidate wants his
criminal record cleared.
Larry Lynn Abboud says it has nothing to do with the election. Abboud says he wants the clean record so he can hold a Masonic Lodge position.
The Sand Springs farmer was found guilty of trying to run over two sheriff's deputies with his tractor and pointing a loaded shotgun at another man almost 20 years ago. He received a suspended sentence.
Abboud was also charged in 1982 with pointing a revolver at a man. The case was dismissed after he received psychiatric treatment. Abboud says it was all a long time ago and he wishes it had never happened.
County Election Board Secretary Scott Orbison says candidates must wait 15 years after completing a felony sentence before they can run for office.
