Two people are behind bars after leading police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
The chase started at about 81st and Memorial around 12:30 Friday morning. It ended 40 miles away in Okmulgee. Police say an officer tried to stop the driver of the van after he nearly hit two other vehicles at a stoplight. The driver got on the Creek Turnpike, and then headed south on Highway 75, where he clipped a semi-truck.
Officers logged speeds up to 85 miles per hour. They believe the two people may have been involved in a string of larcenies at Wal-Mart stores. Tulsa Police Sgt Gary Fritts, “this van fits the description of a van we've been looking for the last two nights that was also involved in other larcenies from various Wal-Mart stores, so we're looking at them as suspects in those larcenies as well.â€
Officers from Glenpool, Beggs and Okmulgee helped in the chase. Police arrested 40-year-old Jerald Bohner and a woman. They face a variety of charges.
