Former OU player receives academic award

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Former Oklahoma basketball star Stacey Dales-Schuman has been named the Verizon Academic All-America player of the year among Division I athletes.

The award was announced recently by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Dales-Schuman, now a rookie with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA, graduated with a 3.71 grade point average as a communications major. She was a two-time All-American at Oklahoma and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 team three times.
