(Las Cruces, New Mexico-AP) -- Rocky Ward, the once and future head baseball coach at New Mexico State, reclaimed the job Tuesday from his father.
Ward's father is former Oklahoma State baseball coach Gary Ward, who coached the Cowboys to ten College World Series before moving to Las Cruces in June 2000 as an assistant to his son.
Gary Ward served as head coach at NMSU last year to help the Aggies build a tradition.
The younger Ward had been head coach at New Mexico State for four years before last year, and now he's ready to do it again.
And Gary Ward, says he's happy to turn it back to his son and plans to continue helping New Mexico State.
The elder Ward played baseball and basketball for New Mexico State in 1960-62. His baseball coaching career began in 1973.
