Tulsa kids have spent a hot summer enjoying city pools, and Mayor Bill Lafortune is planning ahead to keep them open next summer.

A grass-roots campaign raised more than $300,000 to keep 13 pools open this year. The Mayor says this year has showed him how important the pools are. "So as we look at the budget next fiscal year - and the money we'll put aside for the pools - we'll need to remember how the community feels about it and they've shown how they feel. They want the pools open."

So far attendance is up by 8,000 swimmers at Tulsa's pools this year.
