(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Charges were filed Monday against a man who was hit several times by Oklahoma City police as he was being arrested during an incident caught on videotape.
Donald Pete is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, destruction of evidence and engaging in a lewd act. Police also arrested Pete on a complaint of assault and battery on a police officer, but that charge has not been filed.
A woman arrested with Pete and identified as Leeann Clark is facing a prostitution charge.
The incident involving Pete, who is black, and white officers E-D Dyer and Greg Driskill led to a call by the local NAACP for a review of police policies.
Police Chief M-T Berry has asked the FBI to investigate for possible civil rights violations.
FBI spokesman Gary Johnson says a preliminary investigation is under way and the results will be turned over to the U-S Justice Department.
