(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma will have a different scoreboard when the Sooners kick off their home season September 7th against Alabama.
The 22-year-old scoreboard above the north stands at Memorial Stadium has been removed as part of the 71 million dollar reconstruction project.
A temporary board will be used this year and a new scoreboard will be in place for the 2003 season.
OU athletic director Joe Castiglione says officials did not plan to have the new board ready for this year. He says the temporary scoreboard will be just enough to provide a game clock and the score.
The old scoreboard feature a message board and was one of the first of its kind.
