(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Aides to Congressman J-C Watts say they have no idea whether he is planning to seek re-election.

Speculation about Watts was fueled Sunday by House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who said on ``Meet the Press'' that Watts might retire.

Watts' chief of staff Pam Pryor says she doesn't know her boss's plans. Pryor says if anyone says they know anything, they really don't.

Watts' campaign manager John Woods says he's trying to arrange a news conference next week for Watts to announce his plans.

Woods says he has no idea about Watts' future, but that he's assuming Watts will run.

State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Parmley says if Watts doesn't run, it could lead several Democrats to run for the Fourth District seat.
