The town of Pryor now has a new look to an old theatre. At a time when many communities have lost their downtown theatres, one in Pryor has undergone more than a million dollars in renovations.

The Allred Five, which was originally opened in 1916, had fallen into disrepair. Now the owner of the theater has spent $1.5 million to fix up the landmark and to open a movie annex in downtown.

The Allred now has modern conveniences, while the owners tried to keep the old time feel. Theatre owner, Gene Oliver, "We feel that the old style of a palace in a theatre and the service and people is important. You don't want to feel like you're in a mechanized age.”

The theatre will show first run movies on five screens.
