A member of the Oklahoma National Guard could be in line for an award.

Specialist Kyle Dobson of Sand Springs is credited with helping save Army equipment in a barge convoy accident on the Mississippi River.

The convoy was moving more than seven-hundred Army vehicles from Oklahoma to Fort Polk, Louisiana, on May third when some barges struck a bridge in Mississippi.

The incident caused some of the Army equipment barges to break free and begin to take on water.

Dobson estimates he rescued about 20 vehicles from those loose barges.

His commanding officer says he should receive some type of award for his heroics.
