(Norman-AP) -- University of Oklahoma cross country coach Todd Maycumber has resigned.

Maycumber says he'll leave the program at the end of the month to spend more time with his wife and son.

Maycumber is a former Sooner letterman who joined the coaching staff in 1996 as an assistant track and cross country coach. He was promoted to cross country coach before the 1999-2000 season.

The Sooner men finished 14th in the NCAA Regionals last November.
