Some mail carriers in Norman will soon be doing their work with a machine of the future.

The Norman Post Office is getting five Segway Human Transporters to use for eight weeks. The transporters will be used on residential routes where letter carriers now deliver the mail on foot. They can reach speeds up to 12 and a half miles per hour.

The postal service will evaluate transporters delivery efficiency.
