(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A new report includes good news about Oklahoma's economy.

The report by Oklahoma State University economist Dan Rickman says Oklahoma's economy continued to grow last year while much of the nation went through a brief recession.

Rickman says Oklahoma posted stronger employment growth last year than most of the nation, including its neighboring states.

Rickman credits continued growth in the economy's energy industry, the state's vibrant construction sector and less sensitivity in manufacturing.

He's also optimistic about Oklahoma's outlook.

Rickman says that as the national economy gains strength, Oklahoma should see more growth heading into the fall.
