(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Fired Oklahoma City police chemist Joyce Gilchrist loses her bid to get the city to pay for her legal representation in a pending lawsuit.
Gilchrist wants the city to pay for her legal counsel in a lawsuit filed by Jeffrey Pierce, who spent nearly 15 years in prison for a rape he didn't commit.
Pierce is suing Gilchrist, former District Attorney Bob Macy and the city. He says his conviction was based on false testimony by Gilchrist involving her analysis of hair and serology evidence.
Council members voted unanimously Tuesday not to hire Melvin Hall to represent Gilchrist.
Hall is already representing Gilchrist in a federal lawsuit against the city.
