A lawsuit is filed in the wake of the I-40 bridge collapse. The owners of the barge and towboat are being sued on behalf of the estate of an Arkansas family killed.
The lawsuit filed in Muskogee County says Magnolia Marine Transport's towboat didn't have a switch that would have stopped the vessel or sounded an alarm before the accident.
The transport company has asked a federal judge to limit its liability in the accident. It's filed a petition to prevent the families of the 14 victims from getting more than $1.2-million. That's the value of the towboat at the time of the accident.
