WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Brian Burgamy had two hits and four RBI's, helping top-seeded Wichita State eliminate Oklahoma 8-4 to stay alive in the NCAA baseball tournament Saturday.
Wichita State's Dustin Hawkins took the second pitch of the game over the centerfield wall to put the Shockers on top early. They would add three more in the top half of the second inning thanks to Burgamy's single up the middle.
Oklahoma (35-27) answered in the bottom of the second when Charlie Fraiser hit a solo homerun to lead off the inning, followed by Luke Alexander's three-run blast over the centerfield wall to tie the game at 4.
But Wichita St. would add two in the forth on a triple from Burgamy and two more in the fifth, thanks to a two-run homer from Tanner Welch. Wichita State pitcher Adam Peterson had eight strikeouts in six and 2/3 innings of work.
The Shockers (47-16) will play the loser of the Arkansas and Oral Roberts.
