(Del City-AP) -- The police departments in Choctaw and Del City are talking trade.

The two are negotiating the trade of a 7-year-old drug dog for a 6-year-old mobile radar speed detector.

Choctaw City Manager Robert Floyd says his town discontinued its K-9 unit about a year ago and the drug dog, Nero, hasn't worked since.

Floyd says Choctaw police have also been wanting the mobile speed detector screens that show drivers how fast they're going. Floyd says Del City contacted him and proposed the trade.

He says the value of the dog and the speed detector are about the same.

Del City Manager Mark Edwards says the city council has approved the trade. Floyd says the Choctaw City Council is expected to vote on the trade next week.
