No matter what you do this holiday weekend, police will be out in full force making sure drivers are buckled up.

And, if you have a child, you need to make sure their car seat is installed properly. Four out of five people install child car seats incorrectly. For parents, installing the seat can be a challenge - because of the differences between cars - and car seats.

A universal connector is required on new cars - but the car seats that use them are hard to find. Only one kind - the "safety first" Forerunner is now on the market, and it's only sold at Kmart. In the meantime, it's best to make sure a seat fits before you buy. Mike Garner with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office: "Before you leave the store, take it out, they'll usually let you do this, take it out and see if it fits in your car before you try to install it."

After September, all new car seats will have to have the new connector. It's much easier to install - and makes a tighter connection.
