If you'll be in a car, rather than on a boat this weekend, there is a law you might not know about that you need to.

It says whenever an officer or ambulance is pulled to the side of the road with emergency lights on, you have to slow down and if it's safe change lanes to move further away from the emergency.

Troopers say if you see lights ahead, start slowing down early. Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Mike Harrell, "We get a lot of people who get right up on us before they slow down. Then, we hear brakes screeching and it makes people nervous and we have to jump over car hoods or guardrails to keep from getting hit."

10 Oklahoma troopers have been injured or killed in roadside traffic crashes in the past two years.
