IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Tight end Bob Slowikowski, the Dallas Cowboys' sixth-round pick in last month's draft, will miss the 2002 season after tearing knee ligaments during the team's minicamp this week.
Cowboys coach Dave Campo said Slowikowski will go through a couple of weeks of rehabilitation before having surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Campo said it was a ``nine-month'' injury.
Slowikowski suffered the injury during practice Tuesday.
Slowikowski, who played at Virginia Tech, hadn't yet negotiated a contract with the Cowboys. He instead signed an injury waiver that will entitle him to about $130,000, just more than half of the rookie minimum salary of $225,000.
