'Pools for Kids' campaign labeled a success

All Tulsa pools will open as scheduled thanks to the 'Pools for Kids' campaign.

Several pools were set to close because the city didn't have the $300,000 needed to keep them open. But, more than 650 corporate and private donors have contributed. Larger swimming pools will open May 26th with junior pools opening on June 3rd. Kameal Markham says kids will be the big winners. "They wouldn't have anything else to do. They would just sit around and do nothing, so I'm excited."

$136,000 is in the bank so far and another $112,000 has been pledged. Mayor Bill LaFortune says it will depend on the amount of pledges collected and other donations received that will determine how long the pools will be open this summer.
