OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An execution date was sought Monday for Randall Eugene Cannon after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Cannon's appeal in the 1985 killing of an Oklahoma City woman.

After being notified of the high court decision, Attorney General Drew Edmondson filed a request for an execution date with the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals,

Cannon, 42, was convicted in the slaying of Addie Hawley, 85, in Oklahoma City.

The victim died in a hospital the day after she was abducted from her home and left in a vacant lot. She was beaten and had burns over 65 percent of her body.

Cannon's co-defendant, Loyd Lafevers, was executed in January for his part in the crime.

Edmondson said his office had determined that DNA testing would be of no value in the case.

``I see nothing that should stand in the way of this execution being carried out,'' he said.
