(Miami, Oklahoma-AP) -- A task force studying the feasibility of turning the Tar Creek Superfund site in northeast Oklahoma into a wetlands is reviewing final drafts of its report.

Joann Griffith of the Environmental Protection Agency says the report should be completed within a few weeks, if not sooner.

The wetlands proposal that's supported by Governor Keating includes moving or vacating the towns of Picher and Cardin.

Oklahoma environmental secretary Brian Griffin says he believes the task force report will determine whether the federal government will support turning the area into a wetlands.
