A meth bust in Sand Springs turned out to be the largest in the city's history. And the News on Six was the only station in town covering the story.
40 year-old Donna Richardson and 39 year-old Steve Carlile were arrested Sunday on complaints manufacturing and selling methamphetamine. Police had been watching the couple's home for several weeks. Officers say when they finally entered the house, the found the suspects in the act of cooking up the drug.
Sand Springs Police Sgt. John Mars says it's a growing problem they're trying to get ahead of. "It's getting bigger all the time. We're continuously dealing with this. And in Sand Springs we take a proactive approach on it. And this is a result. If it's here, sooner or later, we're going to get it."
Police confiscated a huge stash of equipment and chemicals used to make meth.
A 17-year-old boy who was in the house at the time of the bust, is now staying with other family members.
