(Ardmore-AP) -- The Federal Aviation Administration says Ardmore must move a recently completed police firing range away from the city's airport.

The firing range is about two-thousand feet from the airport's runway.

The F-A-A says that's too close.

City officials say the F-A-A wasn't consulted before the firing range was built. The F-A-A must approve any construction at airports that receive federal grant money.

The range was only used a few times before the F-A-A raised concerns about a month ago.

The range cost about 60-thousand dollars, but officials say most of that was spent on a targeting system.

Police say the targeting system can be moved to a new firing range.
