(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A woman is dead after she was run over by a pickup east of Locust Grove Saturday morning.

Witnesses say Elisha Donnell Pierce was lying in the eastbound lanes of a U-S highway when a truck ran over her at about 1:20 AM.

Scott Robert Mishler of Locust Grove told state troopers he thought he ran over a box and continued driving. Someone told him about the accident and he returned to the scene about 15 minutes later.
