EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ A man who refused repeated requests to surrender remained barricaded in his house early Tuesday on this city's southeast side, police said.

Police fired a beanbag from a shotgun late Monday to flush out the man and end the standoff, but it didn't subdue him.

Officers went to the house on Woodview Lane around noon Monday after receiving a 911 hang-up call from the house, said Glynda Chu, a police spokeswoman.

When a dispatcher called back, a woman said her husband was holding her hostage inside. The woman, who apparently was struck by the man, got out of the house before police arrived. She suffered minor injuries, but wasn't hospitalized.

Officers shot eight cans of tear gas through glass windows into the house, but the man did not leave. He could be seen walking around inside, sometimes near windows. Chu said he was armed, and apparently wore a gas mask.

About 10:45 p.m., the man came to the door holding a revolver and wearing military fatigues. His face was painted with camouflage makeup, police said.

Officers ordered the man to drop the gun but he refused, Chu said.

The bean bag round fired at the man struck him in the shoulder but he retreated unaffected into the house.
